How to plan your time for the wedding location photo shoot
Planning is essential in order for the couple to have a relaxed wedding location photo shoot. However it is often hard for bride and groom to decide and plan their wedding photo location without the guidance of the Melbourne wedding photographer.
Before the wedding day, I always work closely with the couple to create a detailed timeline of how the day will run. But if you are a hands-on bride or groom, here I am going to show you how to work out the time for the wedding location photo shoot in 3 steps!
- Have your ceremony finish time and reception start time ready
As most wedding location photoshoots happens between the ceremony and reception, to determine how long you will have for the bridal party shoot, simply use the math to calculate the duration you have in between. However bear in mind that you leave both extra 30mintues after the wedding ceremony for group shots and family photos and 30 minutes before the reception for quick rest and refreshment.
For example: if your church service concludes at 3:30PM and reception starts at 6:30PM, taking in account of 1hour of family photos and pre-dinner refreshments, you will have 2 hours for wedding photo locations.
- Choose your Melbourne wedding photo locations
After you have the duration time for wedding location photos, now you can scroll backup and decide which location flatters you the most. In most cases, I’d recommend choose the wedding photo locations that are close to your wedding venue or at least on your way to reception from wedding ceremony: even as a Melbourne wedding photographer I’d love to take photos, I suggest couples to not spend not long time on travelling and spend more time with their guests.
General rule of thumbs is to choose wedding photo locations in the same area that is either close to your ceremony venue or reception venue, so that the total travelling time is within 30 minutes.
- Allocate time for wedding location photos and choose a potential second/third photo locations
Depending on the size of the wedding photo location, you will have more or less photo opportunities but generally as a Melbourne wedding photographer, I tend to spend no longer than 30mintues at one location. This can make sure I can get plenty of unique wedding photography plus it gives other bride and groom opportunity to take photos too.
For most of the Melbourne CBD weddings couples tend to do 2 wedding photo locations so they can get a different mixture of backdrops, for example the Parliament House and the Fitzroy Gardens, the fact they are located 5 minutes away from each other is a huge plus too.
Why choose TNG to photograph your wedding
Natural, candid and spontaneous, these are some of the words that my couples describe our wedding photography style. Being a camera shy person myself too, I know exactly how people would feel and that’s why I focus on bring out the natural interactions between the couple instead of giving them awkward poses. When it comes to wedding photography, I believe the wedding photographer should not interfere with how the day will go but rather than documenting it in a honest and authentic way, which will then reflect your true personalities and emotions and the photos will be cherished in the years to come.
Being a Melbourne wedding photographer, reliability and punctuality have also becoming one of my most valuable traits: a wedding photographer is just like one of your bridal party members and it is one of the persons that is going to spend the whole day (most of the time) with the couples documenting their day. it is important that the wedding photographer is reliable and the couple trust him/she just like a close friend.
Lastly, we also believe getting beautiful wedding photography taken does not need to be costly! We offer a super affordable wedding photography package that comes with no hidden cost at all so every couple get to cherish the beautiful memories in years to come.
